Citations are issued by various divisions throughout the Town of
Barnstable which may include: Public Health Division,
Conservation Division, Building Division, Police Department, and
Barnstable Marine and Environmental Affairs.
How do I pay my
citation? | Top
You may pay your citation either in person or by mail. If you
choose to pay in person you may do so by coming into our office
located at 200 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02061. If you choose to pay by
mail please mail your check or money order to: TOWN OF
BARNSTABLE, CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION, 200 MAIN STREET, HYANNIS, MA
02601.

The Consumer Affairs Division office does not accept credit card
payments.
Why would I have to appear in court for this citation? |
Top
If the citation remains unpaid after 21 days you are sent a
second notice to pay. If still unpaid ten days from the second
notice you are sent a final notice to pay. Seven days from the
final notice if the citation still remains unpaid, it becomes a
criminal complaint and the court sets an arraignment date for
collection and will notice you when to appear.
Do I have a right
to a hearing? | Top
Yes. If you desire to contest the matter in a noncriminal
proceeding, you may do so by making written request to DISTRICT
COURT DEPARTMENT, FIRST BARNSTABLE DIVISION, COURT COMPOUND,
MAIN STREET, BARNSTABLE, MA 02630, Attn: 21D Noncriminal
Hearings and enclose a copy of this citation for a hearing.
