TRAVELING IN 2009? NEED A PASSPORT?
Start now – don’t wait until just before you leave to
figure out you need your passport renewed, or need a new one.
Act now – apply for your passport. Although the State Department
has speeded up the process to about 4-6 weeks for an average
turnaround for a new passport; as the vacation season approaches
– it could take a lot longer. Therefore, check your passport
now, and make sure you will be ready to enjoy a stressless
vacation by being prepared.
| The cost of the passports for those age 16 and
older is $75 for the passport fee and $25 for the
agent’s fee for a total of $100.00. For children 15
and under the fee is $60 for the passport fee and
$25 for the agent’s fee for a total of $85. Also two
parents must consent for children to get a passport
who are under 16. An extra $60 per passport is
required to expedite the process (back in 2-3
weeks). |
New forms are available for passports and passport cards (to be
used for land and sea travel only) between the United States and
Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Carribbean. These cards are NOT
good for air travel. The fee for passport cards will be $20 and
$25 for the execution fee for individuals 16 and older. No
execution fee will be charged for adults with valid passports
who apply using a DS-82 form. Passport cards for individuals age
15 and under will cost $10 with a $25 execution fee.
As of June 1, 2009 you need a passport to travel into Canada and
Mexico, even if by car. If you need forms or information contact
the Town Clerk’s office, 508-862-4044. We process passports from
8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For further info
on passports and new rules go to:
