Barnstable Senior Center. Training is provided for all positions. The
following positions are available.
ART INSTRUCTOR
Teach an art class in
painting, sculpting, crafting, sewing or any variable you may have to offer.
We look forward to hearing about it. Commitment: Once a week
ACTIVITIES
COORDINATOR OFFICE HELP
Help with filing and phone calls to confirm dates for upcoming activities
and classes. Commitment: Once a week
ADULT SUPPORTIVE DAY
HELPER
Assist Program Staff with carrying out activities of the day to engage
seniors in conversation and participation. Spend a few hours or a day each
week helping with crafts, games, exercise, or noon meal—make a meaningful
contribution to the wellness of our elders! Commitment: Once a week or
more.
BROWN BAG DELIVERY
DRIVERS
We are seeking someone
to deliver perishable foods to seniors in need once a month. The first
Friday of every month – deliveries take place after food has been dispersed
and bagged. We deliver to approximately 20 people. Commitment: Once a month
BUILDING ATTENTANT
Assist with room set up, room prep, maintain and organize supplies, tidiness
of lobby and organize book swap. Commitment: Once a week
BUILDING
MONITOR/GREETER
This position would be
open to floating around the building and helping out where needed. Duties
might include giving a tour to a new comer, watering the plants, organizing
the books swap books or magazines, and/or working the Garden Level reception
desk.
COMPUTER CLASS
TRAINER
We are looking for someone to teach in our Technology Suite, if you have a
basic understanding, that would be very helpful. If you have the desire to
learn the basics about the computer, we are happy to teach you. Commitment:
Once a week
CLASSROOM TEACHER
Share your hobbies,
skills and talents with others and enjoy yourself in the process. We are
always looking for new class opportunities to offer at the Senior Center.
We definitely want to hear from you. Commitment: Once a week
EVENT HELP
Help us coordinate and
host events, we always need help serving, clearing, and sometimes preparing
for our events. Commitment: Dependent upon Events
GARDENING
Come help us maintain
our garden, tasks include; weeding, watering, planting, transplanting and
picking.
GENERAL HELP/HANDYMAN
Lots of opportunities to help around the Center, with minor repairs, small
projects, set-up/clean-up, etc. Commitment: Once a week
LIBRARY ATTENDANT
Needed 1/2 day a week,
to assist visitors finding materials; to keep the information display racks
neat and complete; to replenish information stock; to maintain
inventory/re-order. Also would need to attend Library Committee meetings as
requested. Commitment: Once a week
MUSICAL INSTRUCTOR
Do you have a special
musical talent? Come share it with us, we welcome entertainment within the
center and as well someone to teach a music class. Commitment: Once a week
PR PEOPLE
Put Flyers out for our
big events at the Libraries, Hospitals, Senior Living, Assisted Living and
any other place you can think of to hang a flyer. Commitment: Dependent
upon Events
RECEPTION/DATA INPUT
This position requires excellent communication skills. You must be able to
communicate effectively under some pressure and help with needed reports and
data files. Commitment: Once a Week
SILVER VAN DRIVER &
ASSISTANTS
Excellent driving skills and knowledge of Hyannis a must, transport seniors
to medical appointments morning or afternoon—training provided—assistants
help seniors on/off the van & to/from doors. Commitment: Once or twice a
week.
SPECIAL PROJECTS AIDE
Assist in mailing our monthly newsletter and quarterly Senior Compass
magazine. Assist with various special projects which may require clerical
or telephone skills ie: phone calls/contact/research assembling projects
materials, distributing materials in community (libraries, hospital and
etc...) Commitment: On call estimate once a month
THEATRE/ACTING/SINGING
Are you a former singer;
would you like to perform with others or on your own? Have you always
wanted to create your own production? We are seeking people with a love of
singing and or theatrics to share your talent with us and others
interested. We love entertainment.
