The Town Council created the Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee (LAPC)
in 2005. This Committee meets monthly and is charged with recommending
parcels of land for acquisition to the Community Preservation Committee
(CPC); leveraging, in conjunction with the Town Manager and the Town
Council, funding, other than Community Preservation Act funding, for
purchase of land; reviewing conservation restrictions before Town Council
approval; keeping the Open Space and Recreation Plan and open space section
of the Comprehensive Plan updated and current; implementing the approved
Cape Cod Pathways Plan. Additionally a member of the Land Acquisition and
Preservation Committee serves as the Town’s representative on the Santuit
Preserve Management Committee; LAPC assists Town departments in the
management of the Land Bank lands acquired under the Land Bank Act in
accordance with the Act and its provisions.
