The Town of Barnstable, in cooperation with the Voices of the
Village Regulatory Task Force, is pleased to introduce its new Citizens Resource
Line. The Voices of the Village identified a growing problem in which various
neighborhood residents were dissatisfied with the Town’s response to their
concerns. This problem had not been previously communicated to the Town.
Further discussions with the Voices of the Village working groups led to the
identification of two individuals knowledgeable in the permitting and regulatory
functions of the Town who will take on the responsibility of answering a
dedicated phone line that will allow concerned citizens to submit complaints,
obtain information or receive clarification on an issue.
Here’s how it works. Citizens with questions will dial the Citizens Resource
Line
at 508-862-4925. A live person will answer the call and take basic information
including date, time and type of question, and enter that information into a
database. The caller’s question will either be answered immediately from a
newly-compiled Frequently Asked Questions list, or directed to the proper person
and department. If the proper person is not readily available, the caller will
be
informed as to who will respond, and will receive a call back. A follow-up call
will
be made to ensure the caller has received a response and an answer to their
initial question.
The Citizens Resource Line (508-862-4925) will begin operation on Tuesday,
January 3, 2012. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. |
